There are many benefits to submerged plants. -Photosynthesis - The plants can absorb carbon dioxide released into the water by the fish and then released back into the water as oxygen for the fish. -Biological Filtration - the plants can absorb organic wastes from the fish before it negatively affects the tank and fish.
